How To Braid Hair:

Introduction

If you have longer hair and sometimes get tired of it hanging in your face but don't want to just pull your hair back in a ponytail, try to braid it. Learning how to create hair braids does involve a bit of a curve, but once you've got it down, you can put a braid in someone's hair or your own hair in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Braiding Someone Else's Hair or the Front Section of Your Own Hair

Things You'll Need

  • Combs
  • Hairbrush
  • Blow Dryers
  • Ponytail Holders
  • Hair Styling Aids
  • Hair Accessories

Steps:

Step One
Begin by applying a styling gel, mousse or pomade to clean, damp hair and blow drying it as smooth as possible. Braiding hair that hasn’t been washed that day and already has hair products in it also works well.
Step Two
Divide tangle-free hair into three even sections. Place the left section between your left index finger and thumb, let the middle section hang free and place the right section between your right index finger and thumb. This will begin to create the hair braids.
Step Three
Grab the middle section with your right middle finger and pull it so it passes behind the right section. Extend your right thumb and index finger so the portion of hair therein becomes the middle section.
Step Four
Use the left middle finger to pull the middle section behind the left section. Extend or straighten the left index finger and thumb to make the left section become the middle section. Pay careful attention to the smoothness and tension of your hair braid sections.
Step Five
Shift the portion of hair hooked in the right middle finger so it sits between the right index finger and thumb. Repeat the process, then shift the portion of the hair hooked in the left middle finger so it sits between the left index finger and thumb.
Step Six
Continue until you achieve the desired length of the hair braid. Make a tighter, more compact braid by pulling the middle section into a horizontal line as you pull it to the right or left. For a loose, elongated braid, simply shift the middle section to the right or left, letting it remain in a vertical line.

Step One
Fabulous Hair Styles - Glamour Girls
Fabulous Hair Styles - Glamour Girls Click to enlarge Conair's hot sticks work very well for these curls.
First, plug up your hot sticks to get them heated up. They generally take 2-3 minutes, depending on your set(s).
2
Step Two
Brush your hair to remove any tangles and determine what size strands to curl. For tighter, shorter curls use smaller amounts of hair at a time. For long loose curls use larger(thicker) strands. You can use a combination of the two or somewhere in between to get varied curls.
3
Step Three
Take out a hot stick and begin curling strands from the front of your scalp towards the back.
To wrap hair around the hot stick: Take the strand and wrap the ends around the hot stick. Roll it upward towards your head *in the same direction as the ends*.
4
Step Four
For super soft curls without the frizz, use a spray such as got2b Hot Twist CURL IRON STYLER(see image) before curling strands. Just spritz it on the individual strands right before curling. If your hair doesn't curl well, put some gel in your hands and run it through your hair(in moderation) before curling.
5
Step Five
You can put the curlers in and sleep with them for super good curls, but this can be uncomfortable. Another option is letting them stay in for 15-20 minutes or until they are all cooled. To take out curlers, just unroll them and spray with hair spray(once again, in moderation).
Have fun experimenting with your new style!

French Braiding Hair

Always Wanted to know how to french Braid Hair? Heres Your Chance On The Candy Club Website

Introduction

If your hair is long enough there are tons of different hairstyles you could try out. If you want one that doesn't require any hair products, just some patience and practice, the French braid might be something for you.
The French braid is a classic and stunning hairstyle. The learning curve is steep and practice is essential, but the results are worth it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

French Braid Someone Else's Hair

Steps

1
Step One
Begin by applying a styling gel, mousse or pomade to clean, damp hair and blow drying the hair as smooth as possible. A French braid in hair that hasn’t been washed that day and already has hair products in it also works well.
2
Step Two
Remove tangles from hair before beginning the French braid. Take a 3-inch-long by 1-inch-wide section of hair just above the forehead or behind the individual's bangs.
3
Step Three
Divide the section into three even pieces. Place the left section between the left index finger and thumb, place the right section between the right index finger and thumb, and let the middle section lie flat against the head. Pull the right section over the middle section and deposit it between the left index and middle fingers. This will begin to form your French braid.
4
Step Four
Lead with the right middle finger and cut about a 1-inch-wide section of hair straight across the head, starting at the hairline and moving toward the middle section. Collect the middle section and pull all of the hair tight. The line of hair you collected for your French braid should lie flat and smooth.
5
Step Five
Twist your left hand clockwise and move the section in between your left index and middle fingers to your right index and middle fingers. Pull the sections in your right hand and let the section in your left hand go.
6
Step Six
Lead with the left middle finger and cut about a 1-inch-wide section of hair straight across the head, starting at the hairline and moving toward the dangling section. Scoop up the dangling section and pull this now-bigger section to the left, hooking it with your middle finger. Continue to make sure each section of your French braid is smooth and has equal tension on it for a uniform look.
7
Step Seven
Twist your right hand counterclockwise. Extend the left index finger and hook the section of hair between the right index and middle fingers. Pull it to the left and let the section in your right hand dangle.
8
Step Eight
Continue the slice, twist and shift process until the entire French braid is complete. Remember to always hook the section of hair between the index and middle fingers, not the thumb and index finger. Keep the tension taut but not too tight.
9
Step Nine
Braid a tail when you've come to the base of the neck, and tie off the ends with a covered rubber band. Add a bow or barrette when appropriate, or hide the tail by tucking it under the shaft of the French braid. Fix with a bobby pin or two.

Tips & Warnings

  • Scale the proportions to accommodate the thickness of hair or the size of the candidate's head. Halve the proportions if you plan to make two French braids on either side of a middle part.
  • Test alternative hand positions, as you may find a hook and grab method more suited to your style.
  • Practice regularly. Once you've got it down, a French braid will become second nature. Until then, practice while watching television, listening to music or whenever you have a free moment.
